I'm Elias Rabinovitch, a Toronto criminal defence lawyer practicing across the GTA and all of Ontario. I founded this practice because I believe criminal defence done right means one lawyer who knows your file, answers your calls, and fights for you personally from the first conversation to the final outcome.
I graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2021, where I mooted, won prizes, and excelled academically.
I don't delegate files to associates. When you hire me, I work on your file personally. Being charged with a crime, facing an employment dispute, or filing a human rights claim can all be overwhelming, and I understand that weight in a real way. I make myself available around the clock for this reason. Guiding you through the process with clarity is part of the job, not an exception to it.
My practice operates in association with lawyers Kevin W. Gray and Ben Fulton, allowing me to bring in trusted colleagues on specific matters where their expertise strengthens your defence, always with your consent and at no additional cost.
Specialization in Criminal Law
Approximately 90% of my practice is focused on criminal defence across Toronto and the GTA. I represent clients facing every category of criminal charge, assault, sexual assault, domestic violence and IPV, robbery and theft, DUI and driving offences, drug offences, fraud and white collar, weapons and firearms, threats and harassment, internet and cybercrime, youth offences under the YCJA, manslaughter, and appeals.
My approach to every criminal matter starts with the same four pillars: review the evidence, speak to the other side, try to resolve, and fight in court if necessary. I forensically work through every page of disclosure, police notes, witness statements, surveillance footage, forensic reports, looking for inconsistencies, breaches of rights, and opportunities to weaken the Crown's case before any trial is on the horizon.
From there, I engage in direct, strategic dialogue with the assigned Crown Attorney, at 10 Armoury Street in downtown Toronto, the North York courthouse, Brampton, Newmarket, Oshawa, Milton, or wherever your charge was laid. My goal is almost always to resolve your case without a criminal record , through withdrawals, diversions, peace bonds, or conditional discharges where the law and the file allow.
When trial is the right answer, I prepare meticulously. I cross-examine with care, anticipate the Crown's strategy, and present your story in the strongest possible way. For a detailed breakdown of how criminal trials actually unfold in Ontario, see my guide to criminal trials in Toronto. I have also written extensively on the realities of the criminal process, including robbery and theft charges, domestic violence and IPV defence, youth offences and the YCJA, car theft and the Crown's evolving position, and victim affidavits for complainants on the Toronto Criminal Lawyer Blog. The FAQ page answers many of the questions clients ask before we ever speak.
My commitment is simple: when you hire me, you get me. Personally. From the first call to the final disposition. No file delegation, no associate handoffs, no surprises.
Outside the Courtroom
I teach English as a Second Language and volunteer at the Rexdale Community Health Centre, tutoring and mentoring youth. I also volunteer with the Handcuff Status Foundation, coaching youth basketball and providing direct support.
I play guitar, cook, travel, and spend too much time with my dog.
